Goals
To identify incidences of residential crime in Papillion.
Objectives
- Organize and train citizens on how to secure their homes and personal property in order to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
- Encourage neighbors to become familiar with each other, along with how to work together in a program of mutual assistance.
- Train citizens to utilize the "Vacation Watch Program" provided by the police department.
- Promote open communication between neighborhoods and the Papillion Police Department
How to Develop a Program
The Papillion Neighborhood Lookouts Program is not complicated and can be implemented in a short period of time. The program doesn't require large investments of time or money by citizens, is flexible and can be adapted to meet the needs of any particular neighborhood. To develop a program or join an existing program, please contact the Neighborhood Lookouts Program Coordinator at the Papillion Police Department at 402-597-2035.
Participant's Responsibilities
- Become acquainted with surrounding neighbors.
- Learn crime prevention techniques.
- Secure home and personal property.
- Maintain a cooperative system of watchfulness over one another's property.
- Report suspicious and criminal activity to police and serve as a witness if needed.
