The Papillion Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency medical (EMS), and fire prevention services to about 60,000 people, covering about 67 square miles in the central part of Sarpy County. We have 51 career firefighters working on 3 shifts providing 24 per 7 coverage, operating out of four stations. We staff two ambulances (medic units), 2 engines, 1 ladder truck, and 1 shift supervisor. Administratively, we have a Fire Chief, a Deputy Chief, an EMS Manager, a Fire Marshal, an Administrative Assistant/EMS Billing position, and a part-time office person.
Historically, the PFD had served the City of Papillion and the Papillion Rural Fire Protection District. On April 1, 2014, we began serving the City of La Vista. These 3 entities fund the operation of the fire department.
